I Don’t Want To Go To Bed!

Okay folks, we’ve said it before and we’re saying it again — little kids (and big kids, too) need their sleep. Seriously! And most of them aren’t getting enough.

If you still don’t think it matters all that much though, listen up: new research, published recently in the journal Pediatrics showed that kids who didn’t get enough sleep each night or who had irregular sleep schedules were four times more likely to be obese and have metabolic blood disorders related to insulin and cholesterol levels. And the lack of sleep appears to be the cause.

Even the non-obese children in the study who didn’t regularly get to bed on time had abnormal blood test results, too.

Did you get that?  Four times more likely to be obese and have metabolic blood disorders! Food for thought, no?
