Could Your Kid Be Headed For A Heart Attack?

New government figures show that 1 out of 5 teens now have cholesterol levels high enough to put them at risk for heart disease!

This is a real shocker and definitely a cause for concern. The culprit, once again, is the runaway childhood obesity epidemic. Yeah, yeah, we know. You’re probably sick of hearing about it, and we may be preaching to the choir.

The truth is, we don’t want to preach at all, just give you another reason to think carefully about the care and feeding of your little charges, which we’re sure you already do. But just in case you need a few reminders to keep you vigilant, here they are:

  • Keep ‘em moving! Remember, at least one hour per day of active running around, climbing, riding their bike, skating, etc.
  • Eat at home and keep meals as fresh, balanced, and simple as possible.
  • Pack their school lunches and include cut-up fruit, sliced carrots, yogurt, cheese sticks, non-fat milk boxes along with the sandwich.
  • Say no to fast-food restaurants, sodas, and junk unless it’s a special occasion.

There’s plenty of research to suggest that good habits are as easy to create as bad, so you might as well push for those now while your kids are little and taking their orders from you. The older they get, the harder it may be to turn things around.
