The CDC has ordered the recall of 800,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine intended for use in children between 6 months and 3 years. The recall involved single dose pre-filled syringes made by Sanofi Pasteur. The vaccines were not potent enough.
Dr. Anne Schuchat, a CDC flu expert, stressed that parents don’t need to do anything or to worry. The vaccine is still safe, she said. Children in that age group are supposed to get two doses, spaced about a month apart. Officials don’t think children need to get vaccinated again, even if they got two doses from the same lots, said Schuchat.
Mamas suggest that if your child is in that age group and received the single dose vaccine, you may want to check with your doctor for reassurance.
