Wigged Out

abybangs

Just when we thought our infant daughters had successfully eluded the fashionistas, we discovered Baby Bangs, the most questionable accessory to be dangled before style-savvy mommies since those scary baby high heels.

WHAT?! Yup, a hair piece designed just for little girls who’s moms are waiting breathlessly for their own hair to grow in.  A wig.  A toupee of sorts.  Made of real hair. This takes the idea of those cute little bows on a stretchy hair band to a whole new creepy level.

Hi sweetie … can you say ‘I’m just not cute enough’?  To be followed a few years later by ‘I’m just not pretty enough’, and then ‘I’m just not sexy enough’?  OK, the middle-aged Mamas may not be right on the cutting edge of all pop-culture trends, but this is ridiculous.

Hey …  you out there in fashion land … stop sending our girl children the message that appearance is everything.  And that looking older is better.  And that childhood is all about striving for the next cool, edgy, grown-up thing.  We’re tired of it!  Let’s worry more about what’s growing inside the head, and less about what’s (not) growing outside.

CRASH! … That was the sound of us falling off our soapbox …

Please write and tell us … would you buy this?
