Enough To Make You Want To Go To Pittsburgh

mrrogers_imageAn important thing you need to know about the Mamas, we LOVE Fred Rogers. Really love him.

For those too young to remember (and we’re sad for you), Fred was the creator and star of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, a wonderful public television series of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s that taught children to use imagination in a truly magical way.

He was an ordained Presbyterian minister who used his education and training to produce quality programming that was innovative and complex, while appearing simple and traditional. An amazing guy who absolutely loved and respected kids, he donated thousands of hours of his time to causes for children. He died in 2003, and public television will never be the same.

BUT … we’ve learned that you (and your kids!) can now have the total Mister Rogers Neighborhood experience. Even better than those wonderful old videos, now you can go to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh (Fred’s hometown) and walk onto a genuine reproduction of the ‘hood, complete with the trolley, Lady Elaine Fairchilde, and the Neighborhood of Make Believe.

We’re planning a trip there — maybe we’ll run into you!
