Safari West

giraffe_2Have you ever dreamed of taking your whole family on safari? Can you imagine how amazing it would be to drift off to Dreamland, safe and snug in a safari tent while wild, exotic animals roamed free, close by? “Sure,” you might say. “Sounds great, but who has the time, money or courage to shlep off to Kenya for the weekend?”

Well, it may be easier than you thought to achieve that dream because right in the heart of California’s wine country sits Safari West, a 400 acre animal preserve and African tent park that is home to over 600 exotic animals and birds. Founded in 1989 by Peter Lang, it’s there to protect and preserve endangered species while helping to raise understanding and awareness of some of our planets most interesting and exotic creatures.

You can see the animals up close and personal and in their natural habitat during your jeep safari, enjoy a delicious ranch meal on the veranda and then spend the night in an authentic African tent or small cottage. Sounds like a winner! Although we haven’t gotten to visit ourselves, we’re dying to go! To get the whole picture visit their website and start making plans.

P.S. Safari West has agreed to dock 10% from the cost of your adventure if you mention Mamas On Call! Families are welcome. We’re not getting anything out of this, we just think they’re very cool.
