Banish Those Bugs The Green Way

imagesLittle kids and poison don’t mix, as we all know. But bugs and other household pests are an annoying and sometimes dangerous part of life and many of the products that make them disappear are toxic and pose health risks for the whole family.

So what’s a mother to do? Well, there are actually a lot of down-home, safe, and user friendly remedies to keep the creepie-crawlers at bay without endangering you, Spot, Baby Jane or Mother Earth.

For starters, you can try this the next time you see an army of ants moving ranks inside: follow the trail back to where they are coming in and sprinkle a healthy dose of cayenne pepper or cinnamon right outside to block their progress. They hate the powdery consistency and can’t stand the smell. Hopefully, they will beat a hasty retreat and worst case for the kiddies will be a little sneezing.

For more good ideas on how to safely get rid of all those pesky bugs that threaten the peace of your home, take a look at this article on the Grist website.
