How Many Ads for Erectile Dysfunction?

cialis_adMaybe it’s just us, but how many times do we have to sit through yet another commercial for Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis?? Why is it that the folks at the FCC think we need to protect our kids from hearing about condoms during prime time, but it’s perfectly alright to barrage them with ways to ensure continuous, long-lasting erections? We object!

The first of these ads (was it Bob Dole for Viagra?) became popular just as our kids were entering the teen years. Always looking for the silver lining, we thought maybe it would usher in a new age of openness. Sexuality is healthy, and here was another opportunity to open up the conversation with our kids.

Fast forward a few years and it’s become ridiculous. One would think that ED is the most important health crisis facing our nation. We’re convinced that the major pharmaceutical companies put more resources into maintaining erections than curing cancer. And our kids sit in front of the TV and soak this stuff up. Did you know that many of the major health insurance policies don’t pay for oral contraceptives, but cough up millions for better sex (for him, of course)? Something is very wrong here.

And what’s with the pair of his-and-hers retro bathtubs out in the middle of nowhere? Where’s the plumbing?
